How the guide figures are calculated & data sources

American Motors calculation: the headline American Motors payload uses the Australian 10 L tare method supplied by American Motors. Where the North American source provides GVWR and payload, the implied source-vehicle mass is calculated first. The calculator then removes fuel above 10 litres at 0.75 kg/L for petrol and calculates guide payload as 3,630 kg GVM minus the resulting 10 L tare. The same calculation is applied automatically across the American Motors RAM 1500 and Ford F-150 selections.

American Motors RAM 1500: entries remain 5.7L HEMI V8 eTorque focused. Current North American / Canadian trim references are used as the starting point, with the 10 L tare calculation applied internally. Fuel-tank capacity is intentionally not shown as a fixed public specification because source vehicles can have different tank options.

American Motors Ford F-150: entries are 5.0L Coyote V8 only. The 2026 Ford payload matrix is now used for the cab/body configurations where available — including the XL Regular Cab 6.5-foot 4x4 figure of 1,720 lb (about 780 kg) at 6,450 lb GVWR. Ford model information and current trim references are used where a trim-specific body mass is needed. Tank capacity remains an internal calculation input because Ford offers different tank sizes by cab/trim.

Australian-delivered competitors: RAM Australia, Ford Australia, GMSV Chevrolet and Toyota Australia figures use their published/current-market payload and GVM specifications where available. The competitor side is deliberately labelled as published payload, while the American Motors side is labelled as a 10 L tare-based guide so the calculation basis is clear.

GVM upgrades: the green GVM Upgrade indicator appears on both sides because American Motors can discuss approved GVM upgrade pathways for eligible vehicles even when the vehicle was not purchased, imported or converted by American Motors.

Useful sources: RAM Canada 1500, Ford Canada F-150, RAM Australia, Ford Australia F-150, GMSV Silverado and Toyota Tundra.

Important — Guide Only

Figures shown are indicative and may not represent the exact vehicle supplied or currently owned. Actual tare / kerb mass and remaining payload vary with model year, cab and bed configuration, factory options, source-vehicle fuel-tank option, conversion components, accessories, fuel, passengers, cargo, tow-ball download and the individual vehicle weight. Accessory weights in this calculator are estimates only and may differ substantially from the products fitted to a customer vehicle. GVM upgrade availability is vehicle- and package-dependent and is subject to an approved solution, engineering / compliance requirements and the exact vehicle specification. Final certified GVM, GCM, front and rear axle limits, tyre / compliance information and actual measured vehicle weights always prevail. This calculator does not replace a certified weight assessment or weighbridge measurement. Confirm final specifications, modification eligibility and suitability with American Motors before purchase, modification, loading or towing.
